I am a freelance consultant and software developer. This is my site focused on technology and business issues. If you’re looking for the personal blog that I maintain with my wife Angela, please head over to The Ohrns. My personal about page is over there.
Other than my wife, my two favorite things in life are software development and weightlifting. While I won’t talk about weightlifting on this site, I will talk quite a bit about programming – hopefully we can learn something together.
Me and My Business
I have been developing software for myself and clients since 2006, my sophomore year of college at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. I was a member of the Computer Science and Software Engineering department for two years, winning both the Addison-Wesley Outstanding Senior Award and the Doc Criss Outstanding Senior Project Award. Upon graduation in 2008, I started my own software consultancy, OhrnVentures LLC, of which my WordPress based business Plugin-Developer is the premiere property.
Over the years I’ve worked with a variety of companies and individuals on an amazing array of projects. While I’m somewhat of a generalist in terms of ability, for all practical purposes I do most of my development in and around the WordPress content management system. Essentially, I build websites with functionality designed to match up perfectly with any particular client’s needs. I love watching it all come together and being a part of a successful launch.
Things I’ve Done
While this is not an exhaustive list, here’s an overview of some of the things I’ve done professionally:
- I’ve contributed to the open source community around WordPress and other things
- I wrote a book about WordPress themes (although it is a bit outdated now)
- I interviewed Alex King at WordCamp Seattle 2011 (see Alex’s impressions)
- I’ve made all kinds of people really happy with my work
