Amazon Reloaded for WordPress Updated

I’ve just updated my Amazon Reloaded for WordPress plugin. The update includes the following changes:

  • Improved code quality
  • Improved error handling
  • New settings inputs for Amazon secret and API keys
  • New interface for display search results
  • Better formatting of search form
  • Support for Amazon’s new request signature requirements

I’m happy to get this out there and want to thank the individuals who stepped in when I was too busy to update it.  Thanks!

I know it’s not your job but I don’t understand where how to get my Amazon API Key!
    Can you help?

  2. Nick Ohrn Says:

@DoZ – Go here and sign up: Amazon Web Services

  3. DoZ Says:

@Nick – oh, ok, that was right, I did know ‘where’ to go; but after signing up (I have this Amazon affiliate ID since years) I don’t understand where is the page to rescue that API Key :((

  4. DoZ Says:

…maybe you meant “Access Key ID” ?

Hi Nick, I downloaded your “amazon reloaded for wordpress” plugin to post Amazon adds on my site but I’m completely confuse with the whole process. I uploaded it on my wordpress blog and activate it. However, in order to use the plugin, it says I need an AWS account, so, I hit the link to create an account and it says, I already have an account which is true and it kept asking for: an Amazon web service secret and API access key. I got the key in my email when I created the account but what is an Amazon web service secrets code. I don’t even know how to access the screen again that required this information. I really need to try this plugin on my autopilot blog. Could you help me.

    Thank you,
    Allan Philip

@Allan – I’m not going to help you and let me tell you why. First, you come here and leave some ridiculous URL with your comment. Something about quick weight loss. That’s totally garbage.

Second, you didn’t pay attention to anything previously posted around this problem.

Third, you want to use this on some garbage autopilot blog? I don’t deal in that bullshit. Want to make money on the internet? Great. Produce something valuable.

    Nick,

First of all, thank you for your work on this plugin, I have greatly appreciated it’s usefulness.

I have a question related to an error message I’m receiving when attempting to activate the newest version of the plugin (5.0.5) on a new wordpress site, version 2.9.2:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /nfs/c04/h01/mnt/59463/domains/ecclesiaanglicana.com/html/wp-content/plugins/amazon-reloaded-for-wordpress/amazon-reloaded-for-wordpress.php on line 27

I’m confused by this error primarily because I have this plugin running without problems on one of my other sites, which is also running Wordpress 2.9.2. The only difference between the two sites is that the site where the plugin was operational was upgraded to 2.9.2 *after* the plugin was activated, while the new site was installed as 2.9.2, and the plugin will not activate.

Thanks in advance for any help or direction you can give.

  8. Jody Says:

OK, sorry to waste your time. The error was caused because I had not set the new site to use PHP 5.

  9. Nick Ohrn Says:

@Jody – No problem. I was going to reply as such, but you beat me to it :)

  10. Raph Says:

Longtime user of the plugin here. Since updating to WP 2.9.1, the plugin won’t save my Amazon credentials, such as the secret key. I can put them in, test them, and it goes through — but then they are reset to blank. Apparently I am not the only one, based on a quick Google. Any ideas?

  11. Maliken Says:

Are there already any workarounds for the problem with 2.9.2, mentioned by Jody?

  12. Maliken Says:

Ah damn, I have overread the cause of the problem. Sorry for that!

  13. Raph Says:

I dug further into the issue with credentials not saving. A search in PHPmyadmin showed that there were duplicate options with the key “Amazon Reloaded for Wordpress.” In particular, hitting the “save and test credentials” button seemed to make the duplicate entry — which would then have blanks for the settings.

I deleted the older key and manually inserted the values in the options field, and they are saved now that I am simply avoiding hitting the test settings field. However, when I go to search, upon finishing, it takes me to Edit Posts page for some reason, rather than to search results.

So, still baffled, but maybe this additional info helps.

    Plugin version: 5.0.5
    Wordpress version: 2.9.2
    PHP5
